Another milestone for Engineering Dynamics as it earns a spot among the top 20 global distributors for Easy-Laser, from a network of over 80 distributors across 60 countries. This recognition highlights the company’s long-standing commitment to laser alignment technology and Easy-Laser products in particular.
The relationship began nearly 30 years ago when Engineering Dynamics recognised the potential of Damalini, a small Swedish laser alignment start-up led by Nils Anderson at the time. Damalini later rebranded to Easy-Laser to align with their product names. As a supplier of Condition Monitoring products, laser alignment systems fit seamlessly into Engineering Dynamics’ portfolio, serving technicians and companies involved in machine installation and laser alignment.
A significant shift occurred approximately 15 years ago with two key developments. Eilif Johansen (now retired) became the Easy-Laser area manager for South Africa, providing regular training support for staff and clients through bi-annual visits. Around the same time, Easy-Laser launched its E-series laser alignment systems, which created additional momentum.
After 2010, Engineering Dynamics became the exclusive distributor for Easy-Laser in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. Turnover increased, leading to the hiring of technicians specifically focused on Easy-Laser training, repairs, calibration, and sales. This dedicated approach to Easy-Laser products has translated into a marked uptick in unit sales over the past four years, propelling the company into the Top 20 ranking, which is based solely on orders placed with Easy-Laser Sweden.
The current Easy-Laser XT series offers advanced technical capabilities. Its platform-independent nature allows for varied pricing structures, making it suitable for price-sensitive developing countries in the region served by sub-Saharan Africa.
Further solidifying its local presence, Engineering Dynamics obtained a license five years ago to calibrate and repair Easy-Laser systems to factory standards. The company’s four-day laser alignment competence course, the only one of its kind in the world, is in high demand and is often booked months in advance by both individuals and businesses. This growth has necessitated a move to larger training and office facilities, which is scheduled for May.
Engineering Dynamics’ recognition as a Top 20 company competing against major industrialised countries, and outperforming distributors in several developed nations, highlights its continuous growth in the laser alignment sector within its operational territory – sub-Saharan Africa.
