Easy-Laser XT440 (NEW LAYOUT)

The Easy-Laser XT440 is the entry point into the Easy-Laser XT range, and the laser alignment tool we put in front of most maintenance teams buying their first system. Dual 1 axis line lasers, measurement up to 10 metres, and readings on either the XT12 display or Rugged Tablet using the free XT Alignment app on your own Android or iOS device. Every function works on every platform, with no licence fees.

You check soft foot, align your pump and motor set and email the alignment report from your display right after finishing the job. Shaft diameters up to 250 mm are covered as supplied, and up to 450 mm with optional extension chains. The 9-12-3 and EasyTurn measurement methods mean you can take a valid reading without turning the shafts a complete revolution, which matters when there are obstacles preventing rotation.

A laser alignment tool for pumps, motors and gearboxes

The XT440 suits any motor pump setup, electric motors, gearboxes, fans and compressors: the rotating equipment that keeps a mine, power station, refinery, sugar mill, paper mill, water works or food plant running. If you are weighing up a pump laser alignment tool specifically, the standard bracket set covers almost everything up to a 250 mm shaft, and the optional extension chains take care of the larger drives. It is a laser shaft alignment tool first, and a platform for belt, pulley and vibration work second.

If you are shopping for a laser alignment tool, Southern Africa has one exclusive authorised Easy-Laser distributor and accredited Easy-Laser service centre in Engineering Dynamics in Lynnwood Ridge, Pretoria. Manufacturer specifications are published on the datasheet below.

Send us your equipment list and we will tell you honestly whether this system covers it.

Laser alignment machine price list, ex VAT

Prices for the three shaft alignment systems we stock. Nobody should have to phone around for an alignment machine price, so here they are, ex VAT.

SYSTEM PRICE EX VAT DESCRIPTION
Easy-Laser XT440 R105 000 Entry level shaft alignment kit with Rugged Tablet display. Dual 1 axis line lasers. R153 000 with XT12 OEM display.
Easy-Laser XT660 R165 000 Mid-range dot dual laser system with Rugged Tablet display. R211 000 with XT12 OEM display.
Easy-Laser XT770 R276 000 Top of the XT range kit with Rugged Tablet display. R315 000 with XT12 OEM display, for the widest set of alignment and geometric measurement tasks.

All three are held in stock. There is also an Ex/ATEX rated version, the XT550, for hazardous areas. Ask us which one your equipment list actually needs, because buying up the range is only worth it if the work is there.

The five year cost, not the sticker price

Easy-Laser XT440 kit, once off R105 000
Calibration, 4 x R15 500 over five years R62 000
Software licences, per device or per user R0
Five year cost of ownership, ex VAT R167 000

The app is free on the App Store and Google Play and can be loaded on as many devices as you like, so adding a second or third display costs nothing. Weigh that against what one unplanned failure like a dropped display and damaged screen on a critical pump can cost you.

Laser alignment training, aftercare and support

The instrument delivery is the easy part. What follows is where suppliers usually go quiet, so here is exactly what happens after delivery. Every laser alignment tool in the XT range should be calibrated every 12 months, and technical questions go to a person who has used these instruments on plant rather than to a ticket queue. WhatsApp or phone is the quickest route when you are standing at the machine with a reading that does not make sense.

Week One

Hands on handover

We offer instrument training at our office on our demo pump sets. We assume you already have a good understanding of laser alignment and need to understand the functions in the software.

  • 2-3 Hours instrument training included, no extra charge in Pretoria
  • Can travel to your site – costs for your account

Ongoing

Training that goes deeper

Instrument training teaches the buttons. The four day course teaches alignment, which is what actually stops the repeat failures.

  • Competency based four-day course, monthly in Pretoria
  • Aligned to ANSI/ASA S2.75-2017 Part 1
  • On site for corporate groups across South Africa and into Africa

Every 12 months

Calibration and service

Done at our own accredited Easy-Laser service centre in Pretoria, so your kit is not sitting in a shipping queue to Europe.

  • 48 hour turnaround
  • R15 500 ex VAT per unit
  • Reminder before it falls due, so it never lapses

Instrument training is included when you take delivery. Beyond that we run a competency based four day shaft alignment course at our Pretoria training centre every month, aligned to the ANSI/ASA S2.75-2017 Part 1 standard, and laser alignment courses on site for corporate groups anywhere in South Africa and into the rest of Africa. Ask us for the laser alignment course price and the next available dates, or read the full shaft alignment training outline and dates on our website. Training happens on the laser alignment tool you actually bought, in your plant, on your machines, and you are welcome to see that for yourself with a demo before you buy.

When the XT440 is the wrong laser alignment tool

It is a better use of your time to hear this now than after the invoice. The XT440 is the entry point into the range, and there are jobs it is not the right answer for.

  • Measuring further than 3-5 metres between laser units. Talk to us about the larger systems instead like the XT660 or XT770.
  • Uncoupled or non-rotating shafts. Rather look at the XT660 and XT770 with more advanced programs.
  • Geometric measurement work. Flatness, straightness and bore alignment sit outside what the XT440 is built to do. Ask us which system in the range covers it.
  • One or two alignments a year. If that is you, having us do the alignment as a service is cheaper than owning a kit, and we will say so.
  • Looking for the cheapest instrument on the market. This is not the laser alignment tool for that brief, and we would rather tell you upfront, but it is a very good tool at the price point.

The XT440 Product FAQ

What does the XT440 cost, and do you have stock?

R105 000 ex VAT for the kit with the Rugged Tablet display unit, held in stock in Pretoria. The XT660 is R165 000 and the XT770 is R276 000, both ex VAT and held in stock with the Rugged Tablet. The Ex/ATEX rated XT550, for hazardous areas, is priced separately as it is built to order. You get the full configuration in writing, including delivery, before anything is invoiced.

Yes, that is squarely the XT440’s work. The standard brackets handle those shaft sizes easily, and either the 9-12-3 or EasyTurn method gets you a reading without a full rotation. Send us your equipment list and we will confirm before you order.

Either. The XT Alignment app is free from the App Store and Google Play, runs every function, and can be loaded on as many devices as you like with no licence fee. Most teams still take the XT12 because a dedicated display survives a plant better than a phone.

The XT190 belt and pulley alignment tool and the XT280 vibration measurement tool both run on the same display with their programs already installed. You can start with shaft alignment and add the others when the work justifies it. Extra set of longer rods, an axial magnetic and sliding brackets are very popular as add-ons.

Locally. Engineering Dynamics is an accredited Easy-Laser service centre. Systems need calibration every 12 months, turnaround is 48 hours, and the cost is R15 500 ex VAT per unit.

Instrument training comes free with the system for 2-3 hours in Pretoria. We also run a competency based four-day shaft alignment course monthly at our Pretoria training centre, aligned to ANSI/ASA S2.75-2017 Part 1, and on site for corporate groups anywhere in South Africa and further into Africa.

R105 000 ex VAT for the kit, plus calibration every 12 months at R15 500 ex VAT, so four calibrations across five years brings you to roughly R167 000 ex VAT in total. There are no software licences, no per user charges and no fee for loading the app on more devices, so growing the team costs nothing. Set that against what a single unplanned failure on a critical pump costs you in one shift and the maths usually settles itself.

You phone the office and you get a technical answer, not a reference number. Repairs and calibration are handled at our own service centre in Pretoria rather than routed offshore. Major repairs go to Sweden.

Yes. We will run a live demo on a machine at our Pretoria office.
