Easy-Laser XT770

The Easy-Laser XT770 is the top of the Easy-Laser XT range, and it is more than a shaft alignment tool only. On top of everything the XT660 does, it adds true geometric measurement — flatness, straightness, squareness and bore centre — plus 360° Live for adjusting vertical and horizontal at the same time, EasyTrend live thermal-expansion monitoring, and unlimited machine trains. It is the complete laser measurement platform for teams whose work has outgrown shaft alignment alone.

It is a platform as much as an instrument. Add the XT22 swivel laser and it measures flatness and straightness; add the XT24 and it measures bore centre; add the XT190 belt tool or the XT280 vibrometer and it covers belt drives and vibration, all on the same display with the programs already installed.

The top of the range, and a complete measurement tool

The XT770 is the system to buy when the work is no longer only shaft alignment. It does everything the mid-range XT660 does, and adds geometric measurements: flatness, straightness, squareness and bore centre. With 360° Live you adjust in both planes at once, and EasyTrend tracks thermal growth on a running machine, so it earns its place on precision installations and machine rebuilds, not just routine alignment.

If you are shopping for a laser alignment tool, South Africa has one exclusive authorised Easy-Laser distributor and accredited Easy-Laser service centre, and both of those are Engineering Dynamics in Lynnwood Ridge, Pretoria. Manufacturer specifications are published at edprevent.com, and everything below is what we hold, quote and support locally.

What it aligns, and what it measures

The XT770 does everything the mid-range XT660 system does, and adds a full set of geometric measurements. It is the only one in the range to offer:

Machines it is bought for

  • Horizontal and vertical shaft alignment
  • Machine trains, unlimited machines
  • Cardan shafts
  • Soft foot
  • 360° Live, adjust both planes at once
  • Belt and pulley drives, with the XT190
  • Vibration measurements with the XT280

Plants it ends up in

  • Straightness of beds, ways and rails
  • Flatness of machined surfaces and foundations
  • Squareness
  • Bore centre and bore alignment
  • Live thermal expansion with EasyTrend

That range of work is why the XT770 ends up with teams doing precision installation and machine rebuilds across mining, power, petrochemical, pulp and paper and heavy engineering, around Secunda, Rustenburg, Richards Bay and Sasolburg. Tell us the measurement you need to make and we will confirm the XT770, and the right transmitter for your application.

One system for alignment and geometry

The XT770 is a platform. The core system aligns; adding a transmitter or accessory opens the next kind of measurement, with the program already installed on the display.

Included

Alignment and 360° Live

Shaft and machine-train alignment with the dual beam 2 axis laser, plus 360° Live to adjust vertical and horizontal at the same time.

  • Unlimited machine trains
  • Cardan and offset shafts
  • Continuous and Uncoupled Sweep, Multipoint, 9-12-3 and EasyTurn

Add a transmitter

Geometric measurement

The XT22 swivel laser opens flatness and straightness; the XT24 opens bore centre. The programs are already in the app.

  • XT22 swivel laser: flatness, straightness
  • XT24: bore centre
  • Squareness

Add the XT190 / XT280

Belt, vibration and thermal growth

The same display drives the XT190 belt tool and the XT280 vibrometer, and the XT12 has a built-in digital camera, with EasyTrend for live thermal expansion.

  • XT190 belt and pulley
  • XT280 vibration
  • EasyTrend thermal-expansion monitoring

Every program is already loaded. Each comes alive when you connect the transmitter or accessory, so the XT770 grows with the work without a second instrument.

Laser alignment machine price list, ex VAT

Prices for the three shaft alignment systems we stock. Nobody should have to phone around for an alignment machine price, so here they are, ex VAT.

System Price ex VAT Description
Easy-Laser XT440 R105 000 Entry level shaft alignment kit with Rugged Tablet display. Dual 1 axis line lasers. R153 000 with XT12 OEM display.
Easy-Laser XT660 R165 000 Mid-range dot dual laser system with Rugged Tablet display. R211 000 with XT12 OEM display.

All three are held in stock. There is also an Ex/ATEX rated version, the XT550, for hazardous areas. Ask us which one your equipment list actually needs and visit our offices to see a demo before you decide.

The five year cost, not the sticker price

Easy-Laser XT770 kit, once off R276 000
Calibration, 4 x R15 500 over five years R62 000
Software licences, per device or per user R0
Five year cost of ownership, ex VAT R338 000

The app is free on the App Store and Google Play and can be loaded on as many devices as you like, so adding a second or third display costs nothing. Weigh that against what one unplanned failure, or one out-of-tolerance rebuild, costs you on a critical machine.

Laser alignment training, aftercare and support

The instrument is the easy part. What follows it is where suppliers usually go quiet, so here is exactly what happens after you sign. Every laser alignment tool in the XT range should be calibrated every 12 months, and technical questions go to a person who has used these instruments on a plant rather than to a ticket queue.

Week one

Hands on handover

We offer instrument training at our office on our training rigs and demo pump sets. We assume you already have a good understanding of laser alignment and need to understand the functions in the software.

  • 2-3 Hours instrument training included, no extra charge in Pretoria
  • Can travel to your site, costs for your account

Ongoing

Training that goes deeper

Instrument training teaches the buttons. The four day course teaches alignment, which is what actually stops the repeat failures.

  • Competency based four-day course, monthly in Pretoria
  • Aligned to ANSI/ASA S2.75-2017 Part 1
  • On site for corporate groups across South Africa and into Africa

Every 12 months

Calibration and service

Done at our own accredited Easy-Laser service centre in Pretoria, so your kit is not sitting in a shipping queue to Europe.

  • 48 hour turnaround
  • R15 500 ex VAT per unit
  • Reminder before it falls due, so it never lapses

Instrument training is included when you take delivery. Beyond that we run a competency based four day shaft alignment course at our Pretoria training centre every month, aligned to the ANSI/ASA S2.75-2017 Part 1 standard, and courses on site for corporate groups anywhere in South Africa and into the rest of Africa. Ask us for the laser alignment course price and the next available dates or read the full shaft alignment training outline and dates on our website. Training happens on the laser alignment tool you actually bought, and you are welcome to see that for yourself with a demo before you buy.

When the XT770 is the wrong tool

It is a better use of your time to hear this now than after the invoice. The XT770 is the top of the range, and there are jobs where it is more than the tool that you need.

  • You only do routine shaft alignment. Then the XT770 is more than you need. The XT660 does shaft alignment beautifully for less, and the XT440 covers lighter use.
  • Your work is inside a hazardous, classified area. The XT770 is not EX certified. For a Zone 1 or Zone 2 area you need the Ex/ATEX rated XT550.
  • You need one geometric measurement, occasionally. Tell us exactly what you are measuring; having us do it as a service, or a more focused instrument, may cost less than a full XT770.
  • Budget is the only deciding factor. This is the top of the range, priced as such. If the geometric functions will sit unused, you are paying for capability you will not touch.

The XT770 Product FAQ

Where does the Easy-Laser XT770 fit in the range of Easy-Laser alignment systems?

The XT770 is the top of the range of Easy-Laser shaft alignment systems. It can be ordered with a rugged tablet display or the OEM XT12 display unit. For hazardous areas, the Ex/ATEX rated system is the XT550.

The dual beam 2 axis laser holds accuracy over long distances and adds measurement methods the XT660 does not have, including Dynamic trend and 360° Live. It also forms the basis for geometric expansion such as flatness, straightness and bore centre. It is a complete laser measurement tool, not only a shaft alignment tool.

Prices ex VAT: XT440 R105 000, XT660 R165 000, XT770 R276 000, all with Rugged Tablet display option and held in stock in Pretoria. The Ex/ATEX rated XT550 is priced separately as it is built to order.
